1851 Census

At some time after they had been analysed, and before they were made available to the public, the census returns for Manchester, Salford, Oldham and Ashton-under-Lyne were badly damaged by flooding. Some of the returns were too badly damaged to film and others which were filmed are frequently barely legible. Members of MLFHS were granted access to this fragile material to transcribe all of the information which could be read using ultraviolet light. These CDROMs present the recovered details set out as reconstructed enumeration pages. All are full indexed for personal and street names.
